Learn to skate at a pace that suits you

In the first week you will put on a pair of skates but there will be no pressure or set routines to undertake.

Over the following 3 weeks there will be the chance to learn to skate at a pace that suits the individual.

We have two types of skates to choose from; quad with a wheel in each corner or inline/blades which have wheels in a line in a row. These are more like ice skates.

You will need to bring a sports top water bottle, a cycle helmet, and be ideally in shorts and t-shirt as skating uses around 600 calories per hour!

Skates and Safety Pads

We will provide skates and safety pads - wrist pads, elbow pads and knee pads.

But, if you do want to wear your own pads, it's best for the person intending to wear them to try them on to get the best fit.

Sports Direct sell pads for £9,99 in various sizes. These pads are based on american children, so are a more generous fit!

Decathlon sports shops also do pads for a similar price but are based on european children, so are smaller in dimensions.

You can buy pads elsewhere but these pads have passed the continual use test. Skatestation also have a large selection.

Please don't rush out and buy skates as we have plenty and it gives the user a chance to try out different types before buying and find the brand that is best suited to them.

Important Notice:

Anyone skating does so at their own risk. Safety pads are always offered free of charge to help protect skaters and avoid injury. Most sports centres and halls we operate in carry their own liability insurance. Our insurance coverage is limited to floor damage only.
